This course provides you with the skills and knowledge to respond confidently to emergency situations in an education and care setting, supporting the safety and wellbeing of children and infants.

Learn the skills required for a first aid emergency
Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting teaches educators and childcare staff how to respond confidently to first aid emergencies involving infants and children, including asthma, anaphylaxis and paediatric CPR, in line with ARC guidelines.
This course provides:
- HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting
This is a Nationally Recognised qualification. Funded enrolments are available only to school students in Queensland, while fee-for-service enrolments are open to students nationwide.
My Industry Training provides training and assessment for this course. My Industry Training is a business branch of Adapt Education (RTO 32452). Students are enrolling with Adapt Education Pty Ltd trading as My Industry Training.

Delivery Mode
Our HLTAID012 First Aid course is delivered through a flexible blended model designed to minimise disruption and give students the confidence to perform First Aid safely and effectively.
Online Theory – Self‑Paced Learning
All students complete the theory component online through our interactive learning portal. This self‑paced module must be fully completed before attending the practical day. Students can log in anytime, progress at their own speed, and revisit content as needed to build strong foundational knowledge.
One‑Day Practical – Trainer Comes to You
Once the online theory is complete, a qualified first aid trainer will attend your school or workplace for a single full day of face‑to‑face practical training. This session runs for up to 6 hours and covers all hands‑on skills required for HLTAID011, including CPR, casualty management, bandaging, choking response, and simulated emergency scenarios.
What We Provide
- All first aid equipment and training resources
- Manikins, AED trainers, bandaging materials and scenario kits
- A registered trainer experienced in delivering first aid in school and workplace environments
- Assessment completed on the day, with clear guidance and support
My Industry Training provides training and assessment for this course. My Industry Training is a business branch of Adapt Education (RTO 32452). Students are enrolling with Adapt Education Pty Ltd trading as My Industry Training.

Use available resources to support the casualty until help arrives
Follow approved response procedures for education and care environments

CPR & First Aid Skills
Perform CPR on infants, children, and adults in line with ARC guidelines
Provide First Aid for common childhood emergencies
Operate First Aid equipment correctly
Monitor casualty condition and respond appropriately

Provide calm, reassuring support to children during emergencies
Obtain consent from parents/guardians where possible
Maintain privacy, confidentiality, and duty-of-care requirements
Communicate incident details clearly to supervisors and emergency services

Complete incident, injury, and illness documentation accurately
Follow organisational reporting requirements
Record details in line with education and care service policies

Recognise psychological impacts
Seek help when required
Contribute to First Aid response reviews
Student Requirements
What you need:
- Access to the internet.
- A basic understanding of the English language.
- A driver's licence, passport or other form of photo-identification.
- Be aged 14 years or older
- Hold a valid USI number
